This piece is meant to be a mixed media portrait (of my friend Jess); I used a collage of cut up polaroid, an eye from a portrait from last year (done in graphite), Sharpie and Copic markers and a number two pencil. I like the way it turned out, but I may do another mixed media portrait to hand in instead. My goal for tomorrow is to lay out my colored pencil still life.
School ended today, and I have just begun my AP Art summer work, as well as my AP English work. That means much more art, and many more short stories will be posted in the next few weeks. I’ll be posting a new piece tonight, along with what the official assignment is. Some of these assignments for AP Art are really dry, so I’m gonna try to put a fun spin on it.
These are line contour sketches I did from photos I’ve taken this year of myself and friends. This was created partly to finally do something with these really cool pictures, and partly cause of that expression “you are your five closest friends” etc. I love the final product with the black background.
This is a little painting I did in my study hall yesterday. It is based off a courtesy call I got, where the lady on the other end (Emily) was having some issues with her headset. I like it, especially since I did it so quick. I do feel like there is some degree of disconnect between the hair, face, and hands though. It is too subtle to look intentional, so next time I do something like this I have to watch out for that.
